Becoming a wedding photographer is no easy task, and one of the hardest parts is having a clear plan to succeed in an industry that is so saturated and overwhelming.
Being a wedding photographer is no easy task, especially when you’re in the heart of wedding season and are elbow deep in editing, gallery delivery, and getting ready to open your books for the following year.
I’ve been there. I have been a wedding photographer for almost four years, and I remember moments of panic, disorganization, and more panic! Until I finally learned the secrets to a successful client experience, workflow, and as a result – an even more successful wedding photography business, which is what I’m sharing with you here!
In this blog post, I’m sharing the 4 tools that have helped me create a luxury client experience and grow my business. I’ll be covering:
So, if you’re tired of struggling to move your business forward, are ready to implement new resources in your business that will transform your life and business, and want even more success as a wedding photographer this year, then you’re in the right place! All of that is about to change for good!
I started my photography business in undergraduate school, when a series of events (that I now see as little signs) kept pushing me toward monitoring my hobby and starting my business. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but hadn’t ever had the guts to actually start a business until that very point. I was studying a subject I felt passionate about, yet didn’t feel at home in the corporate world. Everywhere I worked turned into a job I dreaded, and I was ready to finally go out on my own.
Shortly after I decided to take the jump, I knew I wanted to break into the wedding industry – I just didn’t know how. SO, I desperately threw out every single marketing strategy I had at the time (which was barely any), and miraculously booked two weddings within the first month of starting my business.
That year, I went on to book even more weddings, finishing out my very first year with 8 bookings on the calendar for the following year. As you could imagine, I was thrilled and shocked that I could manage to get so many bookings at this stage in my business, and I wanted to know exactly what I did to get this bookings.
I analyzed and I implemented the strategies I felt were what contributed to these bookings, and sure enough, I was able to repeat this process over and over again until I was able to establish myself as a wedding photographer in my area, and book weddings consistently.
From there, knowing that clients would be able to find and book me, I was able to focus on workflow and business growth. For a while, I had more bookings than I could stay organized for, and struggled to give them the luxury client experience I knew they deserved!
Which is why, I am sharing the tools and secrets that have changed my wedding photography business and allowed me to truly scale my business.
If you’ve been in the photography industry for a while, you know that one of the biggest factors of growth in a photo business is an awesome and branded client experience, including your first contact with a potential client. When an engaged couple reaches out and inquires about luxury wedding photography services, they want a few things (1) a breakdown of prices and packages you offer, (2) a sneak peek into what it would be like to work with you, and (3) a customized email that relays care and a unique experience.
Sending out a custom wedding photography investment guide that not only gives the couple the information they are seeking, but also allows them to experience a luxury and branded experience was a game changer!

I used to have a lackluster client experience. I used to book wedding couples, shoot their wedding, and deliver the images. This was the “job description”, but didn’t help increase my bookings, grow my business, or wow my clients. I quickly realized that my couples were the same – they were clients once, got married, enjoyed photos, and never came back.
This is where branded guides came in. I started implementing new ways of creating a more special and luxurious client experience by increasing my communication with clients in a meaningful way. One of the biggest additions to my client experience was sending out a beautiful, branded, customized welcome guide upon clients booking me, that outlined the whole TWP experience, gave them styling tips, a breakdown of policies, and so much more. The response was astounding, and clients were so pleased, which meant they were happier with the experience of working with me.

It’s no surprise that in order to successfully and skillfully photograph a wedding, it’s extremely helpful to gather information from the bride and groom in advance. As a photographer, knowing a rough timeline, the couple’s desired photo list, where the couple will be getting ready, etc. is pretty important. And when I say “pretty” I mean crucial.
This is yet another opportunity to WOW your clients by sending out a branded and thorough wedding day questionnaire for them to fill out and for you to gather all necessary details.
